An Indian Father's Plea

     "An Indian Father's Plea" deals with a Native American child who is labled by his teacher to be a slow learner.  This relates to our class discussion on how often times children are wrongfully labled as problem children due to their pace of learning or misinterpretation of the teacher's words and commands.
     The father argued that his son is not behind his class, rather, that he is ahead due to his Native American's cultural emphasis on tradition and ceremonies, which cause the child to have a deeper comprehensive understanding of events.  The father also argues that his son has had earlier practice with problem solving and mathematics, as his child has watched his mother count beads and work with difficult, abstract designs to weave baskets and make clothing.
